Swingtastic 2012: The Darwin Lindy Exchange
We're doing it again, this time bigger, better, cooler and smoother! Bringing up the fantatic power duo of Miss Kelly Ann Doll (International Swing Dance champion and Burlesque star) and Jake Meadley (Swing Patrol) for another fabulous time in Australia's northern capital city of Darwin.
Spread across five days, Swingtastic will give you plenty of oppourtunity to get your swing on, no matter which style you pretfer.
Starting Wednesday night with the kickoff at The Darwin Railway Club with the 17 piece Hot and Cold Big Band breaking out swing tunes....they have become a Darwin Must-See Attraction.
Thursday we've set aside for private lessons and, new this year, we are flying up a retro pin-up photographer to be taking sittings...more on that later....
Friday night we'll be having our first mixer from 6-9 pm, this will be designed to get everyone on the same page, all the basics of swing will be covered as well as a chance for you to meet your fellow swing dancers.
Saturday we get stuck into it, with intermediate moves being taught through the day.
Saturday night is our Gangster's Ball, so dress up and get ready to spend the night dancing away.
Sunday afternoon we end the week at the Nightcliff Jetty with a seaside social, another chance to enjoy a swing set against the beautiful Nightcliff coastline.
The best part is that although it's a new year with more events and classes, we're keeping the same price as last year, $135.00 AUD gets you an all-access ticket, including entry into the Gangster's Ball!
Please note though that after the positive feedback from last year, we are keeping the numbers even, capping it at 40 people for the lessons. So if you wish to attend, please purchase your tickets early to insure a spot.
